Artist Spotlight: Sydney Ross Mitchell

Artist Spotlight

Meet Sydney Ross Mitchell, the Texas-bred, LA-based artist who has mastered the art of folk-dream-pop music. Sydney was not raised in a musical family, and it wasn’t until she got older that she discovered music she could emotionally connect with. She moved to Nashville to work on her music for two years, returned to her hometown to record her first EP, and eventually made her way to LA.

What makes Sydney stand out as an artist is her songwriting. She’s a natural storyteller; her lyrics are sophisticated, insightful, and clever. Sydney’s true experiences drive her, and she often writes what she doesn’t feel comfortable saying out loud. Every song she writes tells an entire story, and you can hear the raw emotion in her voice.

Sydney’s music is often heartbreaking, yet it’s peaceful and nostalgic. There’s also a unique element of country in some of her songs, likely influenced by growing up listening to 2000s country music.

Sydney can be likened to artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine for her blissful vocals, and sophisticated lyrics. While her music is peaceful, it also has that sing-along vibe that makes you want to press replay.

Sydney Ross Mitchell recently released her EP “Next Time,” which you can stream here: https://too.fm/m2opny
