Raised in a modern Orthodox family in Sherman Oaks, slimdan's musical journey began under the influence of his mother's eclectic taste, which encompassed artists like Paul Simon, Moby, and 50 Cent. He credits his initial attraction to music to his mother's passion, stating, "That's how I found my way to playing and writing songs," while also admiring her impeccable taste.

After a brief hiatus for college in Boston, Danny returned to Los Angeles with a determination to make it as a touring indie musician. However, fate had other plans for him.

 Rather than following the conventional path of an acoustic guitar-wielding artist, slimdan found himself invited to pop songwriting sessions, sparking his curiosity about how other artists create their music. He vividly recalls, "I was bored of guys with acoustic guitars and didn't think the universe needed another one."

His first major collaboration came with his long-time friend and singer-songwriter Sasha Alex Sloan on the track "Older." This partnership opened doors to working with prominent artists such as Diplo, Ethan Gruska, and King Henry. Danny reflected, "Before I knew it, I had several years of pop writing under my belt."

An unexpected turn of events led to the birth of slimdan. When an artist failed to show up for a pre-arranged session, Danny decided to use the time wisely, collaborating with Bryan Brundige on his own material. The name "Slimdan" was inspired by his childhood screen name, which, in turn, had been influenced by his hours spent learning Eminem's "Mockingbird."

Danny Silberstein has now embarked on a new chapter in his career as an artist. "MVP" serves as the ideal introduction to this artist who isn't afraid to challenge the established norms of pop music. The track marks the first single from slimdan's debut 5-track project. The inspiration for "MVP" came from a childhood memory: "One time in little league, I got so panicked while I was pitching that I started crying, and everyone had to stop the game to clap for me."

Slimdan’s most recent release, 'Celebrity Lookalikes,' is a testament to his growth as an artist and his dedication to authenticity. The warm sonic landscape, narrative-driven lyricism, and earworm melody make this track a breath of fresh air in the indie scene. This release was praised by fans and critics alike.
