Growing up in a religious household in Seattle, Oblé Reed’s musical journey started late, with exposure mainly to contemporary Christian music and smooth jazz. Once he got to high school, he discovered artists like J. Cole, igniting his love for hip-hop. 

Despite academic success and an acceptance to Stanford, Reed opted to pursue his music. He taught himself how to be an audio engineer, converted a treehouse in his backyard into a full-blown studio, and dedicated all of his time to working on music. 

By 2023, Reed released his first full-length album, “LINDENAVE!” He never intended the ten tracks to become an album because they all seemed too different. However, each song in the album offers a deeper understanding of him, making it a perfect entry into the industry. He dives into themes of mental health, social justice, and struggles of self-identity. 

Oblé Reed’s latest single, “CIRCLE THEORY,” is a laid-back, chill rap song with a catchy melody. It’s landed him on major Spotify editorial playlists like Mellow Bars and Alternative Hip-Hop. This is just the beginning for Oblé Reed; his authenticity, thoughtful lyricism, and unique sound make him an artist to watch this year.
