Artist Spotlight: MIA GLADSTONE

Artist Spotlight

MIA GLADSTONE is a singer/songwriter/producer from New Jersey who started gaining traction in 2019 with her debut album “Grow.” By 2020, she had accumulated millions of streams, setting the stage for the release of her sophomore album, “CYCLE/S,” which also received widespread acclaim. Mia has been passionate about music for as long as she can remember. She wrote her first song for a talent show in second grade, and by high school she knew she wanted to make it her professional career.

When Mia was 15, she reached out to the producer of one of her favorite songs, “Ridin,’” by Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky to work on a song with a similar vibe. They became a production duo and made a few songs together. Mia noticed that it was helpful for her to produce her songs because she could execute her creative ideas. Music production often requires a lot of experimentation, so it’s rewarding when the outcome is exactly what she envisioned.

Mia’s style is known for being unconventional; she wants her music to challenge people to think differently. She describes her music as genre-fluid and doesn’t feel confined to specific categories. Her attitude toward her music genre is similar to her attitude toward life: don’t put yourself in a box and know that you can always make changes if you are unhappy.

One of Mia’s favorite parts of making music is the community aspect. In 2022, Mia released “LOOPY,” an 11-track collaborative album. She produced the entire album and included other artists she admired in several tracks. What she loves about the album is how experimental she and all of her collaborators are on each track.

Mia’s latest release, “i’m stuck behind my eyelids,” is a funky fusion of jazz and pop. It’s the perfect track for chilling with friends this summer.
