Hip-hop producer Marcus D is a settle native who currently resides in Tokyo. Marcus D has collaborated with noteworthy artists in the American hip-hop scene like Sagion, Del the Funky Homosapien, Royce Da 5’9, Planet Asia, Crooked I, Blu, and Curren$y. 


Marcus has gained a reputation for his noteworthy contributions to the Japanese jazz hip-hop genre and is frequently likened to his mentor, the Japanese producer Nujabes. Nujabes is considered the “god-father” of Lofi hip-hip who is best known for his atmospheric mixes, instrumental sampling from hip-hop, soul and jazz, as well as his fusion of trip hop, breakbeat, downtempo, and ambient music. 

 

The Japanese jazz hip-hop scene is a vibrant and diverse subculture that has been thriving for several decades. It has produced many talented artists who have been able to infuse their unique cultural elements into the genre, resulting in a distinct and innovative sound.  


Marcus D is known for his ability to blend soulful jazz melodies with hard-hitting hip-hop beats, creating a sound that is both mellow and energetic. Marcus D has released several successful albums that have helped to shape the genre. He has also been influential in introducing Japanese jazz musicians to the hip-hop community, further enriching the fusion of these two genres.
