King Princess, the stage name of Mikaela Mullaney Straus, is an American musician hailing from Brooklyn, New York. In 2018, King Princess dropped their debut single “1950” which was a massive commercial success. Not only did this song chart in multiple territories but it continues to be one of King Princess’ most popular releases. Today “1950” has amassed over 500,000,000 streams on Spotify alone.
King Princess has been on the path of an artist since childhood. Growing up visiting her father's recording studio Mission Sound in Brooklyn and listening to acts like Jack White, Led Zeppelin, and T. Rex shaped them as a musician. In an interview with HeyAlma, they revealed “Since I was so young, it’s just always felt like this was it. I don’t think there was any other option for me. This is my thing.”
Since then, King Princess has continued to release critically acclaimed music, including her debut album, "Cheap Queen," which was released in 2019. The album features hit singles like "Prophet" and "Cheap Queen," which showcase King Princess' ability to blend catchy pop hooks with raw, emotional lyrics.
