Artist Spotlight

Kathy Katouzi is an indie pop singer and self-taught producer based in Toronto, known for creating music that explores themes of strength, self-discovery, and emotional release. Originally from Iran and born in 2006, she was raised in an environment where artistic freedom—particularly for women—was heavily restricted. Upon moving to Canada, she turned to music as a powerful outlet for expression, reflecting, “In my country, creativity was taken from women, not provided,” (Melodic Magazine, Kings of A&R).

Kathy’s body of work features raw and emotionally driven tracks such as “AFTERPARTY!”, “FLATL!NE”, and “BLEED!”. With “AFTERPARTY!” she fuses indie, alt, and electronic sounds with pop energy to transform personal pain and toxic memories into a fierce, anthemic release. “FLATL!NE” delves into grief and inner turmoil, written in memory of her late grandfather. Meanwhile, “BLEED!” tackles vulnerability and self-acceptance head-on, using intense lyrics and powerful production to celebrate the chaos of being human (Unveil Genius, Kings of A&R, High Clouds).

Kathy’s music is a powerful testament to personal transformation—a journey from the constraints of her upbringing in Iran to the creative freedom she found in Toronto. Teaching herself how to craft and record her own sound, she began releasing music that fearlessly explores her identity, emotions, and dreams. Through each song, Kathy creates space not just for self-expression, but for self-acceptance. Her work invites listeners to embrace their full selves—flaws, fears, and all—while recognizing the strength, beauty, and light that lives within. With every track, she reminds us that authenticity isn’t just empowering—it’s revolutionary (Analogue Trash). Kathy released her fourth single “GAME OVER” on May 16th from her upcoming EP I AM, set to drop June 2025 – a project that celebrates living and speaking freely, without fear or restriction.
