Hailing from Rhode Island, artist and producer JVKE blew up in 2020 with his viral hit “Upside Down”. In September 2022, his career took new heights with the release of “Golden Hour”. This slow-burn love song is filled with climbing piano and cinematic strings that evoke the feeling of falling in love. Peaking at the no. 11 on the US chart, “Golden Hour” established JVKE, who was already gaining momentum, as an artist in the forefront of the music scene. 

In an interview with NME, JVKE revealed the process of writing this song. “I remember the day I was working on ‘Golden Hour’,” he tells NME. “I was uninspired but then I started messing around on the piano and adding notes.” He describes the melody as “perfectly complex”. “I had that melody repeating and I knew I had to record, because if I waited any longer I might lose the inspiration.” As JVKE continued to build the song, it became the all-embracing track that is “Golden Hour”. This song reaches a wide audience as demonstrated by the 20,000 Tik-Tok videos it has inspired. 

On the ‘Bose X NME’ Mixtape JVKE created an orchestral version of “Golden Hour” with prolific producer and songwriter, Max Martin. Martin, renowned for his contributions to the music of Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, and other artists, worked with his Orchestral team to create this more expansive version of “Golden Hour”.
