Steven Knight, Dave Lopez, and The Piper come together to form Flipsyde, an Oakland-based rap group that has taken over alternative hip-hop. Flipsyde puts it best by describing how rap, guitars, political awareness, and introspection are combined to create ambitious and soul-searching music.

Meeting in Soundwave rehearsal studio, Piper and Steve Knight were working on their song “Someday” when Dave Lopez heard the track he knew the two had something special and joined the duo to add his musical talent to the song. “Someday” was a hit and began circulating around the west coast music scene, turning lots of heads in the industry.

In 2005, Flipsyde released their debut album “We The People” after deciding to lock in a record deal with Interscope Records. The album was a huge success and lead to NBC using the track “Someday” as the theme song for the 2006 Winter Olympic Games.

Flipside followed up their success with multiple singles and projects. Their 2011 album “The Phoenix” was a huge success, captivating attention from music listeners of all genres. Their song “Laserbeam” featured on the album is one of their biggest songs to date. The song currently has over 10 million streams on Spotify alone.

Flipsyde has not slowed down when it comes to releasing music. Year after year, they come out with more music to fuel their fanbase. Most recently, Flipsyde released their EP “Live in Pacifica”. The project carries the same signature sounds and melodies that listeners have come to love from the group.
