Artist Spotlight

Cheecho is a producer/rapper coming out of the DMV who has established himself as a big player in the current rap scene. Working with artists such as Q Da Fool, Big Flock, and Lil Dude, Cheecho is getting the recognition he deserves.

Cheecho started out as an engineer in his home studio, where rappers frequently came through to record. During this time, he started to make beats of his own. The rappers he engineered began to appreciate his unique sound. He became a pioneer for creating beats with heavy keys and 808’s that soon became adapted into the DMV rap sub-genre.

Cheecho was also rapping at the time. He released his EP “ACEEDO 10k the EP” in 2018 and drew in fans quickly. The album had features from his close friend Schilsh and frequent collaborator Goonew. In an interview with Fader, he explained Goonew is a rapper he has the most chemistry with.

In 2019, he released the album “Cheecho Ona Beat VOL. 1.5” and it took off. Artists such as XELLY, XanMan, Kayvo, and Goonew came together to create a project that set him apart from other producers coming up at the time. In 2020, he collaborated with MoneyMarr on the song “TRAP HARD” which took off. The song currently has over 680,000 streams on Spotify alone.

Cheecho’s most recent release “In Hog We Trust 2 EP” carried the distinctive style his fans have come to love. The 7-track project perfectly encompasses the noteworthy sound Cheecho has created.

As Cheecho continues to release music, his fanbase grows larger and his influence is expanding.
