Artist Spotlight: Carla Prata
Based in London, Carla Prata is an Angolan-Portuguese artist who is continuously reinventing herself through music. Growing up around the world influenced her distinctive AFRO/R&B sound that captivates her listeners. Her stomping grounds of London, Angola, and Lisbon have helped inspire the musical world in which Prata has created- one that celebrates culture, identity and genre-fluidity.
Versatility is an undeniable trait of Carla Prata’s music. “Certified Freak” is a standout R&B single accompanied by a trap-like beat. Unapologetically sensual and confident are characteristics of this empowering track. In February 2021, Prata’s performance of this song went live on COLORS STUDIOS Youtube channel. This meditative yet gripping performance demonstrates Prata’s genuine connection to her music.
Despite Prata only being 23 years old, she has been making waves in the music scene for a while now. Prata began growing her fanbase at age 10, posting covers on Youtube. Shortly after, Prata recorded her first song, “All Right” in the studio for the first time at age 15. This song showcases the early promise Prata had to make a name for herself and has amassed over 250,000 streams on Spotify alone.
Since then, Parta has been dedicated to creating and releasing her evolving discography. Her incredibly engaged fanbase has led almost 4,000,000 streams on the standout track “Owner” from her album roots on Spotify and 178K followers on Instagram. She started the year strong with her release “Pretty” which carries her seductive yet cinematic sound.
