Artist Spotlight: Andi
Andi is an emerging singer-songwriter with a standout voice and something real to share. Her laid-back pop sound and raw, personal lyrics have struck a chord with millions on social media. Andi dropped her debut single, “Everyone’s the Same,” in February 2020. The track was inspired by a real-life experience — a date who bailed on her last minute.
That theme of unreturned affection shows up often in her music. For example, a song about an ex, titled “Reasons To Stay” released in November 2021, about a UCLA football player who, in her words, was “a total player.” Of the 28 songs she’s recorded so far, she says this one stands out as a personal favorite — probably because it’s one of the most honest, capturing the times she admits she was a little too trusting (NorthJersey.com, 2024).
Andi credits a big part of her success to staying active on social media — especially TikTok, where she’s built a following of 1.3 million and counting. But it’s not just about posting content. She makes a real effort to connect with her audience, often asking fans for input on things like cover art or even lyrics for upcoming songs. “I’ve tried to make it feel like a community as much as I can,” she says (NorthJersey.com, 2024).
Her songwriting process is highly spontaneous. Ideas often hit out of nowhere, and she quickly jots them down or records a voice memo on her phone. That’s how the chorus for “Crazier Best Friend” — one of her biggest tracks, released in February 2023 — came to life, while she was getting her hair done at a salon in Ramsey.
When it comes to giving advice to up-and-coming artists, Andi keeps it real: “Put yourself out there as much as you can — it's the best way to get heard,” she says. “And whatever you do, don’t let embarrassment hold you back” (NorthJersey.com, 2024).
